Dear McIntosh family I am sory I was not able to be at the visitation or the service. I just wanted to say what a great man and roll model for all. I don't think anyone will ever know how much John did for this community. Your Family are in our thoughts & prayers. Frank & Kathryn Murray

To the McIntosh family. It's hard to overstate the impact 'Mr. Mc' had on Savannah, Savannah Electric and all those lives he touched as a result. My Dad considered him a mentor and friend and I was proud to know him as well. Since I worked at Savannah Electric after he had retired, I was always honored that he still made the effort to know and call me by name. A class act, for sure. His was a long life, well lived and I hope that gives you comfort during this time. With sincere condolences, John Kraft

- John Kraft, Atlanta, GA

My thoughts and prayers are with you all. Mr. Mac was a wonderful boss, sailor, mentor and so much more... He touched so many people and so many young sailors - he will be missed...but he will never be forgotten....

- Cindy Johnson, Savannah, GA

Dear McIntosh Clan, I was so sad to hear this news. Mr Mac was like a father to me. I grieve his loss greatly. He was such a good friend. But his relationship with Andrew was deeper than friendship, it was that of chosen family. Mr Mac shaped my son's life in a way that only a friend and mentor can. Andrew's life would have taken such a different turn without his guidance and friendship. I am thankful for his part in our lives and will miss him tremendously. Much love to you all.

- Ann Flowers, Savannah, GA

John was a gentleman and scolar, and will be missed by all friends and family. What a large family that truly loved him. My prayers and thoughts are with you. Wanda Brooks

Olin, I just received word from Fran Harold about your Dad, 'The Everlasting Commodore', and it makes me sad for your loss. However, as I sit here writing you, I am smiling a bit just thinking about how special a fellow he was during his entire life. You, Nev, Johnny , Angela, Jane and Aileen are a lucky to have been raised by such a successful gentleman. I smile a bit more when I think about how vibrant and honorable a man he always exemplified in front of his family and business associates. Must admit my favorite story is the one where the McIntosh Family honor was at stake after a race dispute at the Savannah Yacht Club. I wish I had been there to see him connect a mighty blow to a much larger opponent in a manner befitting a real man of memorable stature. He was certainly unafraid to define with lifelong example what honor, honesty and traditional competitive values mean. Although I remember your Dad under six feet in height, he has always stood as tall or taller in my mind among all men I have ever admired. As you know, I lost my Dad in 1965 so I sort of understand the feelings you and your siblings are experiencing since Tuesday. He brought you here as a Father, he helped your Mom raise you, he taught you what he knew, he stood behind you when you screwed up, he helped you out when you needed it most, he was a devoted husband to your Mom, and I would say that you turned out to be a really fine person...even if the arches in your feet are certainly the flattest on record. Ha, Ha. As the days, weeks, months and years go by, you all will think of your Dad daily and the lessons you learned from him. You will hear him in your heart and mind talking you through a difficult decision, just like he used to in person. He really did make his mark on the World, ....especially,... your World. The closely loved departed never really leave us...especially the great ones.
